Dr. Elahe Kani-Zabihi

Senior Lecturer and Head of Foundation for Computer Science, City St George’s University of London

 

Brief Bio

Dr. Elahe Kani-Zabihi earned her PhD in Computer Science from Brunel University London in 2008, focusing on user-centered digital libraries. Her academic journey includes roles at Royal Holloway, Coventry University, Nottingham Trent University, and the University of West London. 

Elahe was the founder and president of WInSTEM (Women In STEM) committee group at University of West London from August 2016 till March 2022 when she left the university and joined City St George’s University. The committee was put together with a group of academic staff from the School of Computing and Engineering dedicated to inspiring and encouraging women and girls to pursue STEM studies and careers. 

 

Ambitions for the London ACM-W Chapter

As a passionate advocate for inclusive computing education, Dr. Kani-Zabihi sees the London ACM-W Chapter as an important platform to empower women in technology through mentorship, visibility, and collaboration. She aims to support initiatives that promote ethical software design and inclusive pedagogy for women in computing.  

She is particularly enthusiastic about creating opportunities for cross-disciplinary dialogue and community-driven research that bridges technical innovation with social impact. Through workshops, outreach, and collaborative projects, She hopes to help build a chapter that is not only academically enriching but also welcoming, supportive, and transformative.
