Brief Bio

Dr. Laura Carvajal started her career as a software engineer in 2005. She is currently a Technical Director at the Financial Times. She leads the FT.com team, who manage the newspaper’s main website serving 20 million monthly users. As an LGBTQ+ Latina, she is a long-time advocate for equality and representation in STEM and is passionate about mentoring early-career engineers, especially those from intersectional minorities and underrepresented backgrounds in tech. Outside of work she is a mother of two who loves gardening and outdoor swimming.
